The Return Of The Jedi

Before everyone who reads this explodes in disbelief, my girlfriend has seen Return Of The Jedi in some form. Before we watched the other 2 films, the prequels don't count, she knew one of them had "teddy bears" in it. But a hazy knowledge of Ewoks alone does not count as a seeing the film.

I have also realised with this blog that it actually works against itself any film written about on here in an attempt to increase the chance of the film being seen is actually less likely to be watched. But I'll still do the blog. I should be noted that this week my girlfriend eliminated a future blog post by watchng Ferris Bueller's Day Off, so film points go to her for that one.

Anyway on with this weeks update. Return Of The Jedi.

I'm noticing a trend in this section of the blog that most of these films shouldn't have to be justified. Return Of The Jedi is the conclusion to the Star Wars triology. After the fairly bleak end of Empire Strikes Back everything comes good for the heroic rebel alliance and they beat the evil Empire. The title pretty much sums up the plot.

I think my girlfriend will like the film for several reasons, the biggest one being the Ewoks, which are very cute. And a bit heartbreaking in the bit where one dies and the other cries over it. I've been in tears many a time over that moment. Also good is the lovely reunion of Leia and Han Solo. And all the great action in the film. And there's a hover bike chase.

This next section is a bit more difficult, as my girlfriend has, in a fashion, seen bits of Return Of The Jedi and like I previously said has already watched the first two films. In fact before this blog I'd say the only reason she hasn't seen it is because we haven't had chance to watch it yet. However, now that this blog has been written it will probably not be watched just because of the blog. We'll see.

My favourite quotation from the film is an easy one, the classic "It's A Trap," which can be used at anytime whatsoever, but is particularly effective if used just before someone opens a door. Or if someone has just been caught in a trap. Or if you think that the death star is inactive so you send your entire fleet in to attack and then realise that the death star is active and lots of brave pilots are going to die, and you have been fooled into a trap.

In the interest of balance the film I haven't seen that my girlfriend has for this week is Anastasia.

That's all for this week I'll be back next week with another film that my girlfriend hasn't seen.
